Hong Leong Islamic Bank – Shariah Secretariat and Research

This function is undertaken by Shariah Secretariat and Research, which supports the HLISB Shariah Committee in conducting pre-approval Shariah review and performing in-depth research and study on Shariah issues which may arise from proposal submissions to ensure comprehensive deliberation. The team members, who are qualified Shariah officer(s), also provide day-to-day Shariah advice and consultancy to relevant internal stakeholders based on the applicable decisions and rulings made by HLISB Shariah Committee from time to time.

Apart from that, this unit is also responsible for administrative and secretarial matters in relation to HLISB Shariah Committee and its members. The team coordinates regular HLISB Shariah Committee meetings, compiling Shariah proposal papers, preparing minutes, disseminating Shariah rulings and approvals to relevant stakeholders as well as custodian for records of Shariah rulings and decisions made by the HLISB Shariah Committee for internal research and advisory purposes.
