Updates on Service Tax (SST) Implementation

Kuala Lumpur, 23 September 2025

Following the latest updates from the Royal Malaysia Custom Department of Malaysia (“RMCD”) on September 17, 2025, Hong Leong Bank Berhad and Hong Leong Islamic Bank Berhad (“HLB” or “the Bank”) will be extending the 8% SST to all applicable financial services that are charged for fees, commissions, or similar payments starting October 1, 2025.

 

Phase

Effective date

Services subject to 8% SST

1 July 2025 until

30 September 2025

Specific fees, commissions or similar payments listed in the Appendix A of the Service Tax Policy 1/2025.

2

1 October 2025

All applicable financial services that are charged for fees, commissions, or similar payments, unless specifically exempted.
